BRUSSELS, June 22 (Xinhua) -- The European Commission on Monday approved a 212-million-euro (243.8 million U.S. dollars) French state aid scheme to support agricultural and aquaculture companies affected by higher fuel prices linked to the Middle East crisis. The aid scheme, which will run until the end of 2024, aims to help companies cope with the increased costs of fuel, which have risen sharply in recent months due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East. This comes at a time when many sectors are still recovering from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and ahead of a busy summer period that includes major sporting events like the 世界杯.
